“To conquer others is to have power, to conquer yourself is to know the way." -- Lao Tzu

“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”

~ George Bernard Shaw

In order to change one’s mind, a human being in good physical and mental health, must prioritize mindful intent. Mindful intent is focus placed on acting in accordance with desire. As every New Year approaches– the common theme of “change” emerges. Human beings all over the earth pledge to ascertain a way to achieve a “better” version of themselves. Change is a meme, that we humans adopt to diverge from the past and create the future.

We must change our minds before we change our lives– we must change our lives before we change the interface of our immediate reality. Learning to change our minds is of utmost importance. It seems simple– but it takes will, time, and practice to break from nebulous mental loops and years of well-crafted associations anchored into obscurity. Mental networks must be re-wired in the image of change.

Consciousness: Man and Technology

A charm of human evolution largely forgotten.

Lucy, The American Museum of Natural History.

Perhaps there will come a time, if  human beings survive long enough to evolve, when Man will cease to look to the ocean for a biological trace-back. Machines will fixate on the year they were born in search of a purpose for arriving. New systems for finding things out will emerge out of self-aware non-humans asking, yet again, what and why am I?

Meaning and Existence

By | Consciousness | No Comments

You participate in spreading the seeds of a dandelion every time you make a wish. Meaning is like the ribbon tied around a gift box– there to accentuate the beauty of what already exists. The pattern, texture, and colors of the gift box are brought into appreciation by the ribbon, yet the ribbon says nothing about the gift box, much less about what’s inside of it. The gift box exists apart from its adornment. The gift box could be empty.

The Stars

The stars remain to us like the birds hidden by the leaves of a tree. With earnest eyes, we are lucky to glimpse upon the colors of a lone feather.

Nature reveals to us humans, only what we are in position to see. The songs of space, remain sounds of foreign lyrics, that we humans attempt to murmur.

Extraordinary are the stars, that they incite the will in us humans to acknowledge their existence and contemplate their lives.

We are space-bound in our quest to understand why.
